KSCL hosts MV and EE !

KSCL 91.3 FM Centenary College Radio is hosting MV & EE (left) for a show at Artspace on Thursday January 29 at 7:00 PM. Also you will enjoy opening act Miss AJ Haynes (performing solo as big Mamma Thump-It).

MV & EE will give a rustic performance of psychedelic blues/folk while Big Mamma Thump-It introduces us to some original tunes and a survey of jazzy covers of classic songs. For you those of you not familiar with MV & EE you may want to check out their myspace or visit Ecstatic Peace for more info. MV & EE share the same professional label on which Thurston Moore released his last solo album Trees Outside the Academy.

The MV & EE show will be held at Artspace located at 710 Texas Street in Downtown Shreveport. Admission charge will be $5 at the door. All ages welcome. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase at the Artspace cafe' area.

Parts & Labor... & KSCL!

KSCL is hosting Parts & Labor for a show at Artspace (710 Texas Street, downtown Shreveport) on Tuesday, November 11 @ 8:00 PM. And we are totally excited about having them come all the way from Brooklyn to play in Shreveport for us. They play an awesome live set of loud, experimental indie rock that will knock you indie socks off! Also, local-ish group Goth Conglomerate led by Centenary student Austin Price will warm up the crowd with some original experimental rock of their own. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the cost will be $5.

Parts & Labor have been traveling through Shreveport playing shows for almost the last decade or so. During their Shreveport visits they even picked up a new bassist, Sarah Lipstate of Alexandria, LA who appears on the band's newest album Receivers. Parts & Labor's show with KSCL at Artspace is part of a tour to promote Receivers which was recently reviewed in Rolling Stone magazine.

That being said, we know this show will take place on a Tuesday night and that this is approaching finals time for students, but if you think you can bring $5 and your awesome self to Artspace for this show, we guaranty you won't regret the experience!

LSUS Student Activities Board to host Tyler Read, New Frontiers, and more [Concerts]

Mark Flentge & Co. (aka LSUS Student Activities Board) are hosting a concert with Tyler Read, Quiet Company, New Frontiers, and Alive in Wild Paint on Friday, April 25th. It all goes down at the UC Theater at 7:00pm sharp! It's open to the public, is all ages, and will cost $10 to any non-LSUS-student.

Flentge recently hopped on board with LSUS's Student Activities Board (SAB) after throwing 13 successful shows around town. It's his first show with SAB.

The concert is part of LSUS's Spring Fling. When asked about the benefits of this concert happening during Spring Fling, Flentge responded, "the school wanted an event to reach out to the school and community." He went on, "I'm sort of blessed with really good timing for things. I really am appreciative of this gift." Luckily the bands could come together.

Colour Revolt Coming to Shreveport, Harlequin Alley

What makes the headliner so special?  Well, maybe it's because they're a cool indie rock band from Oxford, Mississippi. Oh yeah, with looks to kill. And about 22 thousand Myspace Friends to help out. Shreveport, get pumped.

The show, according to the Facebook Event, will be All Ages and cost $10 at the door. Doors open at 6p and the show will begin at 7p. Of course, alcohol will be available for those over the age of 21.

The show is a collaborative effort between Flentge Productions and Carbomb Productions. Mark Flentge, head of FP, states "this is going to probably be one of the biggest shows to hit our area in a long while."

5th Annual Battle of the Bands [KSCL]

Can you play an intstrument? Can you j-jam???
Well, if you can (or think you can!), then the KSCL Battle of the Bands should be just what the doctor ordered. In conjunction with the Homecoming events KSCL 91.3 FM will be holding its 5th annual Battle of the Bands. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 19th in the Shell Amphitheatre beginning at 5:30p. KSCL is seeking eight bands/performers from any genre of music. These performers can be groups or solo acts.

Prizes are:
1st: $300
2nd: $150
3rd: $50

Bands and artists wishing to participate should send demos to ksclbotb@gmail.com (mp3 or other digital format) or KSCL 91.3 FM, 2911 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104 (CDs).

Among the Bands, KSCL is also looking for interested merchants to sponsor the event. Raffle prizes and/or prizes for the winning bands are what we have in mind. We'll also add you to our list of donors for on air and print advertising.
